Republican presidential candidate John McCain opened up a new line of attack on Democratic rival Barack Obama on Wednesday, labeling him a celebrity without the strength to bring change to Washington.

"Sen. Obama doesn't have the strength to speak openly and directly about he will address the serious challenges that confront America. How will he be strong enough to really change Washington?" he said.
I feel the same way about Obama. Too bad that quote comes from McCain, who I equally distrust.

The ad comes from Bush's man. Poor old man is hitting the bottom now. It will only be ran in States he thinks can't think lol.

It doesn't seem like a very nice thing for McCain's group to exploit Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears the way it does. Spears is obviously going through tough times and both she and Hilton are children in comparison to McCain. So why drag them into all this and make them suffer emotionally? Why put them in a situation, particularly Spears, that hurts and causes more anguish?
It was clearly wrong and McCain owes both of them apologies, both in private and in public.
If he doesn't apologize publicly, I, who have always voted Republican, will vote for the opposition.
P.S. And don't think I'm some sort of Spears or Hilton fan, I'm not, but I'm a caring person who thought that McCain would be above such actions.
- 12 votes
I wonder if Mz Hilton and Britney gave permission to the McCain campaign to use their likenesses...

"address the serious challenges that confront America"
I haven't heard much of that coming out of McCain, probably because he can't remember what his stance was the week before, since they change weekly. All he does is attack Obama.
Abby, he will probably be getting a call from their reps like he did when he used a Daryl Hall song without his permission, and Hall demanded he stop.

"Obama also wants to end oil and gas industry tax breaks and proposes a windfall profits tax on the large oil companies."
I think that this would punish Big Oil but they would pass the lose of revenue off to the consumer by raising prices further. I wish there were some way to control they PR ads, they must cost them a pretty penny to make hogs into heroes.
- 3 votes
Exploiting Paris and Britney - you've got to be kidding! I think what's really sad is Obama exploiting the American flag by wearing it on is lapel. Guess the prop works for him now. What a joke!
"I pledge allegiance to the flag . . ." come on Obama, we can help you on this one.

McCain's "Festival of Lies" just keeps getting bigger and bigger. This supposed "maverick" has completely sold out to the standard Republican strategy of false attack ads and sleazeball politics. But I guess you really can't blame McCain. He's a 72 year-old with a medical history of recurrent cancer who has nothing "positive" to sell about himself
- 5 votes
I don't feel that way, respectfully. I believe he will have the strength to bring change.
- 3 votes
so.... no.... britney and hilton don't do a lot of changing in washington, but i'd vote for either of them before i'd vote for McCrazy.

The big test is going to be whether or not Obama will stoop to a similar level. The line in the sand has been drawn. Will Obama cross over it? If so, to what extent?
It's hard not to respond in kind when someone stoops to mudslinging. I'm interested to see if Obama's talk about "change" is for real in that regard. Only time will tell.
- 4 votes
Abby, Obama is a man of integrity and he will not lower himself to that level. He can sell himself without slingling mud at McCain. Hillary slug a lot of mud at Obama and he always took the high road.

In 2000 I actually was hoping McCain would be the repub nominee. I would have voted for him.
This is not the same man. He got slammed by the dirty tricks of those that hijacked the republican party and now instead of standing up and being strong and fighting for the good of this country he has sadly become a member of this right wing cult and stands with them.
- 3 votes
You know, I kind of keep hoping that McCain will get back to his old self and say screw the old style Republicanism...I keep hoping he'll get his b*lls back from Bush...but I don't see it happening.

Weren't Republicans slamming Obama in the very beginning for not wearing the lapel pin in the very beginning?

John McCain isn't "hitting the bottom." In case you didn't notice, Americans didn't like Obama's attitude on the European/Middle Eastern trip and USA today's poll released this week shows Obama not trailing McCain.
The more people see of Obama the less they like him. Remember that Hillary was winning most of the last several states when folks woke up to who Obama really is after many of his not-so-savory relationships with Terrorist organizations, Rezko and other convicted fraudsters as well as Farakhan and the lovely Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
The momentum is now for McCain who is much more like Clinton philosophically than Obama who is as self described Marxist (he says so in his book) and is Left of Lenin!
- 4 votes
To Abbey in CA. I find your comment laughable! Obama has been his stance on the issues almost daily for going on two years. His web-site gives the details. You can summit your questions. Saying he doesn't speak openly is pathedic! If you can hear and read, then take the time to do so vs. making such a statement. Your opinion on an issue would be welcomed if fact based.
Trish-
I find it laughable that you can't spell my name correctly. Now that we've both had our laughs...
Why is it that I'm not allowed an opinion of the nature of Obama?
I find Obama's campaign to be something of a modern miracle. His rhetoric is phenomenal. His relationship with the media could not be better. He knows how to manage his image. However, in my personal opinion (because that's what this is all about - opinions) Obama is a lot of hype and not a lot of substance. I find many of his speeches to be vague and scripted. I have no doubt that Obama is sincere about some of what he wants to do, but, sadly, sincerity does not make the man.
Quite honestly, I'm dissatisfied with both candidates. If you'll note, I said that I disagree with both McCain and Obama.
I'm glad I could give you a laugh at least. Cheers.
- 3 votes
lol oh you poor Republicans - so much can be said about you guys, not the least of which is your inability to understand that the country is tired of dirty politics, and why your candidate - just as what happened with Hillary - will not contrast well with Obama's style. The more you people attack Obama, the more you turn away the country. Trust me. And don't try and attack me for the truth I'm speaking. It's time you people stop playing the victim, and learn a lesson or two. Your party is about to get whipped once again this November. And it's gonna be your fault. The politicians follow the people and the trends. And the example you people have made is counterproductive, and actually, somewhat embarrassing.

No, I think that the Republicans can place the blame squarely on the shoulders of GWB for his awful politics and on McCain for running a shoddy campaign.

John McCain is making the point that being a celebrity does not make you qualified to be president -- hence using Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears. Period. That is the end of his point.
And John McCain is correct -- Obama may draw a crowd of 200,000 by appearing after a rock concert and offering free beer. That does NOT make him qualified to be president.
He has done NOTHING in his entire life that is anything spectacular.
He didn't do anything to help Chicago. Look at the mess it is in - killings every day, slums for people to live in. Slums built with the money that Obama got for his friend Tony Rezko.
Then he serves 143 days in the senate and decides he should be president?
And are any of you Obama supporters even listening to him? Yesterday he said ..."I am the one you have all been waiting for". That alone should make you stop dead in your tracks!
Does the guy really think he is something so special? I believe he DOES think that. He is acting weirder and weirder as time goes on.
John McCain's ad was right on -- Obama is nothing more than an empty celebrity who is narcissistic and soiciopathic. Obama supporters need to take a REAL CLEAR LOOK at this man.

Thank you S. Heath.
I could not have said it better myself. I started off this election liking Obama, then as the Democratic race went on switched my support to Hillary Clinton. Now I am voting for McCain just to keep this self serving narcissist out of office! The longer his campaign goes on the more he acts like he is this "world leader" figure full of what many see as the coming of the anti-christ! Plainly to many he's scary, unrealistic and flat out dangerous for America. He is the embodiment of exactly the type of politician that will take our freedoms and liberties away right under our noses and he should be feared!
PEOPLE WAKE UP! THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACE OR EQUALITY. THIS MAN STANDS FOR EVERYTHING ANTI-AMERICAN AND WILL TAKE US DOWN THE ROAD TO A GOVERNMENT WHO CONTROLS YOU... WHO TELLS YOU, NOT ASKS WHAT WE NEED. HE HAS HIS OWN AGENDA ALREADY AND IF ELECTED GOD HELP OUR COUNTRY...
Obama is once again acting as if he has already won the presidential race as he did with the Democratic race BEFORE it is even over!
His attitude and arrogance are outright disrespectful of our political process to every American who has yet to cast their vote, which is why McCain's ad was dead on. Obama had no right speaking to a crowd in Germany on our behalf and people are rightly angry that he had the audacity to apologize for our past behaviour? To the Germans? And I'm part German, but unlike Obama remember history. AMERICANS OWE NO APOLOGY...PERIOD.
Just who in heck does he think he is? Shame on you Obama! I'll be renting a bus on election day to fill it with anyone ready to cast their vote against you all the way to the polls!!

First off, stop yelling in all caps. Rude.
Second, exaggerate much?
1.
And John McCain is correct -- Obama may draw a crowd of 200,000 by appearing after a rock concert and offering free beer. That does NOT make him qualified to be president.
Can you point to someone, anyone who is stating that this (drawing large crowds) is their sole reason for voting for him? It's kinda funny, when your candidate has nothing to run on I guess all you can do is attack your opponents popularity as a negative? Wait, that's not funny, that's weird.
Yogi Berra: "That place is so popular, no one goes there anymore"
2.
He has done NOTHING in his entire life that is anything spectacular.
- Earned his law degree from Harvard in 1991
- Became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review
- He returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law
- Ran for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years
- In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate
Yeah you're right, he's done nothing special at all. Oh wait..you said spectacular....
3. He beat out all these opponents, fair and square...
- Hillary Clinton
- John Edwards
- Joe Biden
- Bill Richardson
- Chris Dodd
- Dennis Kucinich
- Mike Gravel
Yeah, he's popular. Wouldn't McCain love a little of that.

Goodwill would involve not proping up an already failed social infistructure with an even more destructive P. R. Movement that would result in the utter failure of the entire working system in the United States.
This will not be any other different race with any less salesman / political talk than before.
OOOhhhh wait a minute.......I looks as if more and more people are intersted in getting their Ghetto P. R. relations certificate even if it means the disintigration of the State.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin said it best (although while not having his exact words, this is an approximation of what he said to the best of my memory.)
"We (Speaking of Russia) cannot support all Democratic Movements at the cost of the disintigration of the State."
The entire world recognizes what a super power with nukes is capable of if in the hands of a poeple that have gone utterly mad with no self discipline.
Every Major country in the world recognizes that.
Republican since Bush Republican for now or untill further degenaration within the State.
McCain as a verteran, with having survived through turture chambers, is a far greater choice of a man fit for Leadership.

Gee, can't tell who the reporter supports by the questions they ask Obama verses the one's they ask McCain's. Gross, poorly written.
Remember, recently a report came out that found all the networks and news media, including Fox, contributing most of their money to the Obama Campaign.
Just follow the money.
Someone please give McCain his Geratol, and alzheimers medication.

Is that like ... I'm not taking anything off the table (in reference to the possiblity of raising taxes). Then less than a week later we get... I will not raise taxes. You mean flip flopping like that?
- 3 votes
no, not the flip-flopping on taxes. He was talking about McCain's flip-flopping on immigration (now against the bill he co-authored). Or maybe the flip-flopping on oil drilling (was against, now for, since it has short term political appeal). what I like about McCain is that he promises to perform a miracle by balancing the budget during his first term without raising and taxes or cutting services. He must be a lot smarter than people think. Either that or he will say absolutely anything that he thinks might get him a vote.

Why did MSNBC put in McCain's age and not Obama's? It had no relevance to what was being said and is purely a subtle way for NBC to pick at McCain when they've picked Obama as their man. All the articles are full of little inuendo, overtones, undertones and biased "reporting". Not having the guts to admit their advocacy instead of being true news people will eventually bite them where it hurts.

Well, I will tell you why if he is elected he would be 72 when he takes office.
While I don't agree with you reasoning, I do find it odd that they would do that.

Maybe America's brainwashed drones cannot perceive Obama's superlative leadership qualities, but the more highly evolved, deeply more conscious Europeans recognized Obama's intellectual qualities that indicate, for once, America has an opportunity to evolve as well. Also, Obama is better educated than one topic, Mc War-lover.
Of course, Obama is a splendid orator but so was JFK, Churchhill and FDR, which is also indicative of a higher level of consciousness and reasoning and logical deductions. All of the preceding are evidenciary of a superior mind and intellect.
All dum dum can say, is, uh uh uh -- as his eyes dart back and forth -- frantically searching for the lost word, which he never possessed in the first place.
Folksies and brainwashed drones can say, just anything; however, this is not necessarily right, ethical or correct. Mc Caveman is saying, "I gotta say enytang I can to discredit this century's JFK and FDR causin he so much marter than Granpa Grits.

"but the more highly evolved, deeply more conscious Europeans recognized Obama's intellectual qualities that indicate, for once, America has an opportunity to evolve as well."
Evolve into what? When you are the greatest nation in the history of the world, what would you have us aspire to? The highly evolved, deeply more conscious Europeans are being overrun by radical Muslims and will soon be calling on the good old USA to rescue them as we have had to do in the past.
- 6 votes
A few truthful statements for you:
1. Obama is NOT a skilled orator, only a skilled presenter of pre-written speeches.
2. Excellent communication skills are NOT the #1 criterion for electing a leader (Hitler had good communication skills as well).
3. It's NOT whether you can be the best speaker, it's what direction you're willing to lead the country, and how much you'll try to stand up for certain values.
Thus: this isn't really an issue for picking either Obama or McCain.
- 6 votes
"The highly evolved, deeply more conscious Europeans". . . Yeah, they are so superior to us that they enjoy higher unemployment, drastically higher taxation, lousy medical care (unless you are rich), higher fuel prices, and a mentality of someone owes me something - which is the mo of socialism. That's great . . . America has so much to aspire to! Please, give us Obama so we can be as uselss as most of Europe.
You're the dumb-dumb (yeah, that's the correct spelling). Tell us the truth, you're from France, right?!
- 6 votes
hey, all the socialist like him, maybe we should too. no, don't drill, just raise taxes!! socialism is the best!!! see how all those socialistic countries are not even having enough babies to support themselves? wonder why? maybe is is because they are sol "evolved".
- 3 votes
yurfulla...wow have you got it wrong. Think about this:
1. Obama may not be what you define as a "skilled orator" but he certainly runs circles around John McCain. Seriously, McCains handlers must be shaking when they think about their guy having a one-on-one debate with Obama.
2. Excellent communication skills are THE #1 criteria for electing a leader. You ruin your point when you bring up Hitler you fool. It was Hitler's communication skills that GOT HIM ELECTED! Any politician who can convince the electorate that his view is correct will be elected over another politician who can't do it.
3. Where you lead the country has nothing to do with winning an election. Leading the nation comes AFTER the election.
Think about this. GW started an unpopular war and was the only President ever to have not created one new net job in the country during his first term and yet he was re-elected! Why? He communicated his message better than Kerry. John McCain is as boring as John Kerry. If he doesn't change his communication problem he'll lose in November.

OBSERVER996- EVERYDAY I ASK; WHY REPUBLICANS LIKE YOURSELF ALWAYS FEEL THE NEED TO LIE WHEN GIVING THEIR OPINION? YOU SAID "when you are the greatest nation in the history of the world" WHAT'S THAT QUALIFICATION BASED ON? I LOVE AMERICA WITH ALL MY HEART BUT YOU NEED TO LEARN THAT HISTORY BEFORE YOU CAN ARGUE ABOUT IT. America has taken that role of being the best from some other countries, I bet you cant name them. The point is this, if we're going to still be the best, we have to elect the best, BEING THE BEST IS USUALLY BASED ON ACTIONS NOT WORDS. COMPARE WHAT AMERICA DID TO BECOME THE BEST AND WHAT ITS DOING RIGHT NOW THANKS TO YOU GUYS FROM THE RIGHTWING TO STAY THE BEST. AMERICA IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD JUST NOT IN HISTORY OF THE WORLD.

We became the greatest nation only because we constantly evolved. Had we not evolved we would not be where we are now.
Other nations are currently evolving. China, India, Brazil........all while we stay stagnant because we are too busy fighting over party politics and allowing our politicians in both parties to hold us back.
So what do you mean 'what are we to aspire to?'
We need to aspire towards evolving out of party politics and getting officials elected that know what a Constitutional Government should be, and with the foresight to keep us competitive and elvolving. Otherwise other nations will surpass us and we will be left behind.
Because some twit on the internet called Observer is affraid of the Islamic Boogie man, we're suppose to stop trying to make ourselves better?. Get a clue buddy.

Folks in Germany came out to see the rock bands that were warmed up the crowd for Obama and hung around to see him. These were really popular bands.
By the way, it is just plain ludicrous that a presidential candidate would have a close friendship with and support the N-Rap group, Ludicrous. Ludicrous is just what his name says. In his latest release he calls Hillary a B----- and says McCain should be paralyzed in his chair among his other nasty and uncivilized comments.
Rack it up to just another unsavory associate of Obama's that, if his nasty music becomes an embarrassment Obama will just say as he has of Rezko and his minister, "that just isn't the Ludicrous I know and throw him under the bus (getting crowded under there with Jeremiah Wrong, Farakhan, The American Communist Party, Tony Rezko, Khalidi, Auchi, Dorn, Saddam Hussein {through Auchi}, PLO and Hamas etc. etc.--all under the bus with his poor "typical white person" grandmother).

Obama actually does write some of his speeches. For instance, "A More Perfect Union" was written by him, in as little of time as two days.
I'm not sure why being a good speaker would be a bad thing.
I see that in my previous post the link I gave has been edited out.

Lets follow their example of diplomacy, send delegation after delegation to pander and appease terrorists and dictators, endless high level meetings that accomplish nothing but embolden the enemy. How about just once standing up and actually confronting the evils in the world. Your saviour, America's apologist to the world fits that profile perfectly. Only this time when the Europeans do nothing and say America will handle it as usual it will not be the case with Pesident of the World Barack H. Obama. After the next terrorist attack I can see Obama's diplomacy "Lets just ask the terrorists why they blew up the building, why they blew up the train, why they hi-jacked the airplane, why they cut the heads off the hostages . European and Obamic diplomacy, perfect together.

No, they all qualify for the health insurance, but you can bet the rich don't wait it out in the clinics! Just like Kennedy - when he found out he had a brain tumor, he went to the best doctor's and facility for his care, which is what he would still be able to do under Universal Health Care. But you and I wouldn't be able to do that. I will keep my lovely PPO provided health insurance through my employer - thank you very much!
There is no reason 90% of the population should have crappy care through a Universal Health Care Plan just because approximately 10 - 15% of the population are uninsured now - and half of them choose to be! Deal with them - leave the rest of us alone!!
but you can bet the rich don't wait it out in the clinics!
In Canada they do.
As an interesting point of note, if you do a bit of research on the overall "Quality of Life" that the Godless, socialist scum of Europe enjoy, you'll find that it's actually higher than that enjoyed by Honest, Hard Working, God Fearing Americans.
The only obvious solution is to declare WAR on Europe and drive their standard of living below ours like it was at the end of WW2.
Of course, we'll have to suspend the elections in this time of crisis...
Bush/Cheney 08!
SuperSapien:
No they don't - they cross the border into the USA.
McCain is jealous over Obama's popularity. McCain in my opinion is very much like Bush. Both Bush and McCain are idiots, and are inept to run this country. McCain is so out of touch with the public, doesn't understand economics, and has proven his ineptness regarding the Iraq war.
Hands Down! I'm Voting for Obama!!
- 4 votes
Teri, its very clear by your comments you see no further than Obama's super star image. This election is about who is best to run this country in a very troubled time. Regarding the Iraq war, it was Senator McCain who wanted the surge and if you are following the news its working and we are now winning the war. I find it hard to believe someone with no experience, far left liberal voting, hates the war, ignores our soldiers, says no to off shore drilling, and lets not forget his out of control tax increases it what you think this country needs.
VOTE AMERICAN, VOTE MC CAIN!!!!!!
- 6 votes
yeah, McCain doesn't understand economics. and you are such a brilliant economist yourself. tell me one thing that Obama knows about economics. don't drill, raise taxes. that is stupid economics. how about offering $350,000,000 for someone to build a battery that allows cars to fill up in short order and run for hundreds of miles? that is good business sense instead of offering welfare handouts to losers that won't work. how about drilling instead of importing? how about using nuclear power instead of dirty coal? they all are economically sound. they weed us off of depending on others and pay ourselves to get it done. what is Obama doing? saying don't drill, don't build nuclear, raise taxes and give it to the slackers. how is that smart economics?
- 4 votes
You mean out of touch with you. The rest of us do not want a socialist society.
Neither Bush or McCain are idiots. For that matter either is Obama, but he is sure full of him self; in my Opinion, not that it matters, he doesn't have a humble bone in his body, and he has frequently slept up.

Janice919, you are the reason why this country is going in the wrong directions. HAVE YOU CHECKED Mccain's VOTING RECORDS ON OUR SOLDIERS? IF YOU'RE GOING TO ARGUE ABOUT THE WAR IN IRAQ, DID MCCAIN RECOGNIZE THAT HE VOTED FOR THE WRONG WAR TO YOU? WHY GO BACK A YEAR INSTEAD OF 5 OR 6 YEARS OF RECORDS. PEOPLE LOSING JOBS, HOUSES AND FAMILIES GETTING BROKEN ALL FOR ONE REASON; MCCAIN/BUSH WAR IN IRAQ AND YOU REALLY GONNA TAKE THAT STAND? GET SMARTER IN LIFE NOT DUMBER.
- 2 votes
Economies are cyclical - we are so vast and global that there is no way to maintain a constant. There will always be fluctuations.
Before you talk about people losing jobs, you better look at the unemployment rate - nationally 5.7% in June. Not too bad. And people are losing their houses because they bought what they could not afford - but no fear, we are now going to reward these losers and bail them out! Yes, we are going to do the good socialist thing and help those poor souls who won't do a damn thing for themselves.
But you keep telling yourself that people's problems caused by their individual choices and decisions is because of McCain/Bush.
You sir, are the reason the country is going in the wrong direction.

You meant to say... WALL STREET GOT DRUNK... HAS A HANGOVER... OR YOU MEANT TO SAY... IT'S NOT A RECESSION, IT'S A STATE OF MIND... OR WE BECAME A NATION OF WHAT?
You really want to say that the God knows how many trillions of National debt we keep accumilating have not implication on our economy, or the inflation of $ has been caused by democrats? WE ELECT PRESIDENTS TO AVOID THESE EXACT KIND OF THINGS IN CASE YOU DIDNT KNOW.
- 2 votes
RECESSION
A period of general economic decline; specifically, a decline in GDP for two or more consecutive quarters.
so no its not a RECESSION
Yeah Thomas! Stop with the whining. Just because our Greatest President (GWB) had to tell us there were WMD's in Iraq so it could be invaded and our housing market has collapsed, and our high paying jobs are going over-seas, and our manufacturing base has withered, and we're still utterly dependent on foreign energy...
...we shouldn't be second guessing him.
He (George W. Bush) knows things you could not possibly understand!
Bush/Cheney 08!
The housing market issues have been caused by a lot of greedy people thinking their house was going to keep appreciating 5, 10, 15% or more a year. They got bad loans, and signed without reading - bright people! They deserve to lose their homes. But not to worry, they losers are getting a bail out! On the backs of smart people who do or try to do the right thing!
High paying jobs going over-seas - what, call centers? My high paying job has stayed right her in the USA - and will continue to do so!
Manufacturing has tumbled because people want cheap crap. They wonder why there is lead in kids toys when they buy this crap from China. If people demanded and were willing to pay for the products to be made in the US - they would be. But people have the Home Depot/Wal-Mart mentality. The want all the useless crap they own cheap.
Why does MSNBC have to assist Obama by explaining his position again and again in the article? We need the Media to be neutral on this!
I just don't understand why McCain feels the need to attack this guy at every corner. It really makes me suspicious about his confidence. I think Obama is smart as a tack and McCain knows he is up against a formidable advisory. I also think that Obama is smart not to get into issue at this time that he will have to be criticized for. It is a shame that we have people in the world that feel that Rush Limbough mentality about the democrats. I am not a republican or democrat. Personally I feel like both parties have brought us to the place we are today. First by making oil a commodity and allowing selfish, self centered people to run recklessly through our economy for there on means. It is time to nationalize before it is to late. We need to nationalize health care and oil and get out of this rat race we have put ourselves in. If we don't there will be a record number of people leaving this country for places that they can live without all the turmoil. I can't base my security on McCain's war record that is hideously stupid, I don't want the same thing to go on that went on for the last 8 years. We have nothing good to look at from that. Once a man is the president everything they stand for shows up. The best man will not win this election because there isn't a best man. I don't know about anyone else but it is time to take care of our own backyard and stop policing the world. In the last years since 911 we have made enemies, tanked our economy, sent people to war in the wrong places, completely destroyed our economy, tapped phones, made America a paranoid place to live. I could go on, the list is long folks.

Oh, come on now; Obama has done the same thing, even to Hillary and especially to Bush.
Why is it all right for Obama to call people who cling to their bibles, and Guns , and who are against abortion frustrated, (White trash) Why is it okay for Obama to call McCain old and senile and call him another Bush?
Is he allowed to play by different rules then everyone else?
- 3 votes
Because Barack was telling the truth. But when you call yourself and honest and noble person then go around attacking someone by lying and misleading the American people, then the rules change.
Paul, you and people like you would rather see this country go down in flames than vote for the bi-racial man (Barack Obama). All you see on these blogs are people hidding behind stupid excuses and not admitting the real reason why they don't want to vote for Barack Obama.
If John McCain wins in November, this country will get just what it deserves. Four more years of lies, games and bullsh*t. How about that!
- 2 votes
I rather be called popular and a celebrity than old and senile.
- 1 vote
Right on Ginger!
Facts are facts.
Obama IS popular.
And McCain IS old and senile.
He flip flops primarily because he can't remember today what he said yesterday.
An sorry but I really need to disagree with whoever thinks McCain and Bush are not stupid.
I challenge anyone to name any politician of any time period who is or was dumber than either of these. You won't find any. Both Bush and McCain have two digit I.Q.s. All the rest have at least three digits.
- 1 vote
Paul L. Are you denying that McCain is old and senile? Common sense tell you that anyone over 70 is old, I know because I' over 70. But more importantly once you get to your late 60s, you certainly don't think or feel like you use to. Use common sense, that's why they have senior bowling, senior gold, senior centers, etc. As to Obama's comments about clinging to guns and bibles, isn't it true. From what I've learned those individuals in these small villages, would rather die than give up their guns. Most abandoned their bibles when they open their mouths, since they don't live by the teachings of the Lord.
Larry, I am over come by your hatred.
I do not believe our nation becoming more like Europe is what best for our country. I would gladly vote for Connie for President if she is running.
Socialism has not worked in the past, it won't work now. If you were being a true person you would have simply said you disagreed with me. I believe our country is better off with out Obama, you think our country would be better with him.
Should I assume your part of Rev, Wrigths hateful church of lies becauseo you your statement...No I should not.
You shouldn't assume hateful things about me either.
So, to be fair... I am not going to call you a racist, but others might.
- 3 votes
Sorry Ginger, maybe I am just reading to many hateful post.
Seems like many can dish it out against McCain, and I certainly should not do the same.
PaulL. Your hatred has eaten away your intellect. You denial of being a racist is a shield so that you can poise as a human being from time to time. Your thoughts are not healthy.
So let me get this straight, if you don't vote for Obama, you are a racist.
Larry, I mat be wrong about you just hating, maybe you believe what you say. but it seemed hateful to me.
ajsmith
I simply asked the question if turn around was fair play, for this I am a racist?
Is asking questions know incorrect?
The answer I got back was, anything a democratsays is true, so personal attacks on Bush or McCain is ok. but anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist, is this what you and Larry are telling me, Am I just misunderstanding what you are saying?
Is this what you mean by intellect?
- 1 vote
Hey Paul L.......You seem to be a hateful person.
What? How so? Seems to me he's willing to ask questions. Hateful people never do that.
Obama IS popular.
Yes. He is. No one has denied that at all. But McCain said it, there is concern over his growing celebrity status. If this is mudslinging, then this election is the most gentlemanly one I've ever seen. Mudslinging is NOT about speaking out against your opponant. Mudslinging is about speaking out against your opponant using irrelevant, hateful or nonsensical arguments. This one is pretty sound if you ask me.
So let me get this straight, if you don't vote for Obama, you are a racist.
Anyone who chooses their vote on the basis of race, whether for or against, is a racist. Paul, i get the feeling you're not that guy.
Senator McCain and his campaign have moved from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Finally, someone calls it the way it is. I am very surprised that it is Senator McCain. I have new found faith in him and glad someone finally had the leadership to step forward and make that statement. I am so very afraid that the American people will not wake up until it is to late.
- 2 votes
Great post - I agree. There's alot more McCain can do to damage the bs filled Obama. Lay it out there...just say what millions are now realizing...Obama should be a threat to our security...has strong Muslim ties...CHOSE to be mentored by a white hating racist preacher...has risen from nowhere as the Anti-Christ is promised to do....it crazy to even consider this man as a Senator.

us freedom and taz_vt. Truly, are you people serious that you believe McCain is better qualified to be President, and Obama is not. Maybe 15 or 20 years ago McCain might have been Presidential material, but to much water has passed under the bridge, and he has gotten bitter.
AJ, and maybe in 5 to 10 years Obama will have enough experience to become a good candidate.
First, I want to know if Brittany and Paris agreed to be in his video because if not they should sue his butt. Second, I'll say that when you choose to use celebs to make your point (and I don't care what your point is) then you pretty much binging from the bottom of the barrel. If McCain hasn't pointed out that nothing he says means anything to everyone by now then you just haven't been paying attention.
FLIP-FLOP!
A vote for McCain is more of the SAME!!!

Obama really does come across as some out of touch with reality stuffed shirt, willing to make grandiose speeches, but underneath there is zero substance. Reminds me of a guy who is all wannabe, but has no pedigree. Very disgusting in the manner in which some of the supposed staff meetings are set up to appear as though he were conducting a cabinet meeting. I cannot help but notice the conspicuous absence of Bill Clinton, "helping out". Also, the conspicuous absence of Obamas Wife. Just wait until Jessee Jackson and Al Sharpton start their rhetoric, but try not to infer any "racial bias" in what they say. I beieve that the closer we get to elections, majority of Americans will understand that mere words and empty rhetoric will do nothing for "Change" anyone can put any faith in. McCain may not be perfect, but he is a darn site better than anything the fly weight on the other side can offer. It is way past time for BOTH candidates to get nailed down solidly on issues of import and lay out in specific detail what their un flip/flop positions are and stick with them. Realistically, we have a less than one term senator, a local Illinois party hack, who has never served in the Military, never run a business, has certainly "mastered" the deceit required to lard Senate appropriation bills with tons of PORK,out there touting himself as the best thing since the invention of peanut butter. Then we have McCain, who is a long term unyeilding Senator who has zero Pork, Good Military record, and is well respected in the Senate based upon his experience and oft demonstrated willingness to cross party lines to accomplish meaningful legislation. Rah Rah Lizard droppings, is how I feel about all the crap Obama camp is trying to show America that Obama is qualified to be President. President of maybe his High School class, anything beyond that is a real stretch.

Heay, I'll pit my pet lizard's brain any day against the low, low IQ's of Duhhhbya and Mc Neanderthal. In reality, reptiles are very bright. They do as well in a scientific labyrinth as mammals, and like some pet dogs, obey verbal commands, learning them quickly. [My dog still does not obey verbal requests!]
If you believe in science, your most ancient relative was the stem reptile, a large, pre-dinosaur age lizard that pre-dates all mammals. Haven't you ever heard of the reptilian part of the human brain? In doubt, just ask Mc Granpa Grits.

Skipper,
I'm just curious as to why out of all the possible political commentators out there, you had to bring Jessee Jackson and Al Sharpton into the conversation?
I thinks your bias is showing...... And I don't mean political bias......
Logically, though, with the current democratric controlled congress, there's much greater potential for change with a democratic presidency...... And McCain's already shown his willingness to chcnge his stance on issues, just to gain votes within his own party.........
Same old politics -- both ways. But I tend to agree more with McCain than Obama. McCain has made his bones. Obama sounds nice, what with the "change" platform, but serious change in DC occurs about as often as Hailey's comet. And anyone who stumps on that promise is either a liar or naive.
Obama strikes me as the latter. McCain it is.
- 3 votes
First of all, that guy Bob Clark is an obvious racist (see above). Second, is it really a shock that a member of the Grand Old(fashioned) Party is running an ad like this? McCain was a nobody in American politics until his failed presidential bid in 2000. His ideas, like his party are old and stale. That's why he has yet to talk about what he would do as president, besides keep Bush's failed taxcuts and keep us in Iraq forever. All he seems to be able to do is attack Obama. What is so bad about a man who is popular over seas becoming our president? If Obama is elected, maybe we won't have to tell everyone that we're Canadian when we decide to travel. Just a thought.
- 1 vote
I would like to remind you the "failed" tax cuts got us out of a recession. We are not yet in a recession (haven't meet the qualifications yet) Do you really think raising everyones taxes, and taxing "Dirty Fuel" will help our economy?
- 2 votes
Paul L. Where do you get "raising every ones taxes", please provide proof in writing where this is written. I've read tax on those earning $250,000 and above; or those earning $150,000. We wouldn't need to raise taxes if we could recoup 10 billion a week from Iraq, for the money we have spent on their civil disorder. Your boy Bush took us down in the gutter, with Johnnie boy's help, now they both are talking about drilling off shore. Why weren't we drilling for oil off shore six years ago? I believe McCain was against off shore drilling until about ten days ago. Get my drift, McChange goes where the wind blows.
I think the war was a mistake and we differently should have note spent the money. Obama has said he would get rid of Bush's tax cut.
So I am not completely disagreeing with you.
We are not yet in a recession (haven't meet the qualifications yet)
I think this is one of the biggest things wrong with country at this point in time. Whenever we have a major problem concerning the well-being of the country, we worry about numbers. In my opinion, we are in a recession. I don't care if your statistics say we aren't, WE ARE. "Oh, well our numbers tell us this law isn't working, we need to do more to make the law work." Maybe the law is broke? THINK. Have feelings!
Stop listening to what your government, and the media tells you to think, and form your own opinion! You're obviously a bright man, Paul, who is able to form an opinion about the candidate you think is more qualified. If you believe we are not in a recession, that's cool. If you believe that things are not on a economical downhill, believe it. I encourage you to. But, if you think we're not in a recession because we don't "meet the qualifications" that the government sets, or because the media tells us were not because there was a slight bounce back. Form your own opinion. Please.
For the better of our country.
(Note: Larry, I don't mean for this to be pointed at you, or offensive towards you. Just using you as a slingshot, so to speak.)
MSN as well as the rest of the media are making a lot of the Berlin crowd of 200,000. I read the following in a www.newsmax.com article and am wondering why this information about the "free rock concert" and the absence of the American flag has been under reported.
This is what I read on NewsMax: "For starters, the crowd's size was beefed up by the fact that the event was billed as a free rock concert for German citizens, with popular musical performers helping to draw the big crowd. Scant U.S. media even noted the warm-up rock draws of reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn. Then there was the simple stage, with the podium surrounded by three potted plants. Missing was the American flag -- nowhere to be seen. Perhaps Obama's staff might consider the U.S. flag offensive." End of quote.
- 3 votes
Bernie, you are kidding, right?, now you tell me the last time a German band ever drew 200,000 people?
There was a band there and they played both national anthems.

Bernie!
I was there and what you say you know is all wrong. These people were there for the exclusive reason to see and hear Obame.
- 1 vote
Bernie-3994843. Get educated. Don't you know it is against the law for anyone other than the President of the USA, to have the flag as a back drop on foreign soil. There plenty of American flags in the crowd. So before you bring this up "the logo on the plane was changed to O" because it was in campaign mode. When on official US business the flag is appropriate, but not on campaign trips.
Bernie, you are absolutely correct and all people like Larry and Karl have to do is search for the facts. Just google "obama german rock concert" and you'll get more than 70,000 hits describing the rock bands that preceeded and wrapped up Obama's speech. But you can still choose to ignore it if you want.
I'm surprised that the old coot didn't say that Obama was only a popular cadidate because he is a negro.
- 1 vote
Well it's about time. Obama is hoping to win on popularity rather than substance. Now this will open the eyes of many who were caught up in the wind storm and allow them to take a step back and really look at Obama.
Looks like Obama needs to give another one of his fluff speeches.
- 2 votes
No, this will just cause bile to rise in the back of many an American throat.
Why, do you think, McCain feels it necessary to sling mud? It's a dirty tactic no matter which way you look at it.

US Freedom, in fact, get your facts right, as Obama writes most of his own speeches and has verifiers to check on correctness.
Sorry but McCain does not write any speeches, a known fact, as he cannot string 2 sentences together that make sense.
I would have loved to see McCain make a speech to 200,000 people with the skill that Obama did, in fact, i can't think of anyone today that could have done better.

Independant who will never vote obama!
Tell us something to make us believe in your choice for president. As far as most of us sober people are concerned, which is the majority, there is only one person running for president and that is Senator Obama and he will win over whelming by a 75 to 25 % spread. Get Real.
If the Republican Party had any smarts at all, they would have apologized to Mr. Colin Powell, then begged him to run for president, I may have lessened some what then.
Neither one of those douchebags are worth my vote if you ask me.
Mr. Ralph Nader is the ONLY guy running who actually gives a damn about the people and the planet we live on. If all the world's citizens could have voted for the US president in 2000, Nader would have won by a landslide. And Bush would have ended up with just 3% of the world-wide vote.
And if that happened, there would have been no 9/11 attacks, no need for wars in Afghanistan, Iraq or Somalia. Nearly 3000 people would still be alive in NYC. Over 4000 of our sons and daughters would still be alive and well. Tens of thousands of them would NOT be maimed for life. Thousands more would have NOT felt the need for suicide. Over 1,000,000 people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia would still be alive and well. And millions of them would NOT be maimed for life and/or rendered as homeless refugees. America would NOT be forever stained by the images of torture and other gross misconducts. Gas prices would NOT be $4 / Gal. And much, MUCH more!
Just one downside . . . the oil companies would NOT be quite as rich as they are, and neither would the corporations that produce the US war machine . . .
- 2 votes
Don't forget, stuffing ballets will help anyone win against any opponent. The Bush mafia would have found a way to cheat, push aside and/or kill if need be to win this election. The republicans had plans for this decade to include Iraq, Afghanistan, high gas prices, deregulation, and so on.
There wasn't anything nor anyone (including JFK Jr.) that was going to get in their way, not now, not then.
McSame is quickly slipping toward the need for a dribble cup.
Now that his campaign says, publicly, HE doesn't speak for his campaign - his communication folks are now backing off the lies they put in the ad about Senator Obama's cancellation of a visit to wounded troops in Iraq - how long will it be before his whole staff turns itself into law enforcement for slander and liable?
IF the public wants to continue to rule of the boy-king from Crawford then McSame is your man and we'll be in WW 3 by June 2009. Gas will be $20 a gallon IF YOU CAN GET IT - China will stop financing our debt - major banks will fail - and Johnny McSame will be howling for more tax cuts...
Sounds like a REAL mature, experienced recipe for a sound future... N O T !!!

Sounds unamerican if you ask me.
As for the dirty tricks, just stop it. Don't listen to it, don't respond to it unless it is to complain.
But instead of complaining to each other or blogs like this, why not complain to the campaign staff?
Maybe if enough people say that they want to hear something of substance instead of this stupid dribble, they may get the message and move on to higher ground and topics of concern for all of us.
I think Obama saying he wouldn't go negative is a step in the right direction, and McCain's tactics are wrong. I once liked McCain, I thought he had integrity. But no more.
I think that is the only way we will ever see a change in the same old 'dirty tricks' campaigning of the past.

Both Obama and McCain are political animals, cut from the same cloth. The Democratic machine is running a slick media blitz for Obama very similar to the launch of a new movie or promoting a celebrity. He has the charisma to pull this off. The Republican machine has no choice but to attack Obama because he is too new to have a credible national record to review. McCain has a record of national politics so he is very vulnerable to attacks by the Democrats on his record.
Obama may very well win the Presidency, but the voters who support him with have only themselves to blame when he disappoints them as just another politician.
Bottom line: Change is not possible when you are part of either party.
- 2 votes
Obama supporters are not naive. We know the deal. And I know I won't be disappointed. I think he would be much better than McCain.
Yes. I understand Obama is a politician, but at least he is smart enough to realize things can not go on the way they are. Change has got to be made.
The people are on the verge of a revolution because of the failed administrative policies of the last 8 years. Our rights are being whittled away, and the economy is tanked. We ask for money from other countries to pay our own bills. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! And because big oil and big business have bribed its way into republican pockets, no true energy policy has been made that will make us energy independent.
People believe that oil is the thing we need and they don't realise that it soon will be GONE. KAPUT. NADA, OVER WITH, DONE, NONE LEFT. What then? Instead of looking at alternates, and funding research and giving help to inventors the government just pocketed big oils money (for their campaigns-it had to look legit) and wrote up policy that helped the status quo. The rich got richer, the American people were broken.
McCain will keep the status quo. Besides in his record can be seen things like not voting for GI bills. He really cares for the soldiers you know.
His association with the Keating 5, saw the demise of numerous Saving and Loans in the 80's that old folks lost their life savings in. But I guess that was too far back for most people to remember.
His son just resigned from the board of a Bank that is failing RIGHT NOW, he didn't want to put the McCain name in the spotlight.
The list goes on.
Seems to me he hasn't learned to help the 'people', just his big business friends.
So further reason that 'experience' is not necessarily the right thing to have in this election.
In my opinion Obama is a breath of fresh air. He is intelligent, articulate and thoughtful in his speech. People are worn out with the "yahoos" of the last 8 years and listening to McCain answer questions is just plain painful. The economy, the war, and the enormous debt this country has screams "We need a change." Call him what you want, rock star, golden boy, celebrity, but I'll choose to call him President of the United States.
- 3 votes
...and we are all all willing to listen to lies, instead of the truth. Obama has no chance of making a change. He is a Washigton insider, chosen to continue and succeed at the Democrats agenda they have held for the past twenty years.
Absolute power, absolute control, socialist country, high taxes, big Government and little freedom.

Absolute power, absolute control, high taxes, big Government and little freedom.
This is exactly what we have gotten with republicans for the past 7.5 years. Except for the socialism--republicans don't like doing anything for the common good.
- 1 vote
Obama does not make a stand. He says anything that sounds nice and makes it sound easy but yet has no substance to make this CHANGE. How will he change the economy? Sending out another stimulus check, with the money coming from where? He wants to tax the middle class more to bail out mistakes of the past and give their money to the lower class. The middle class like everyone else wants their hard earned money, we shouldn't be taxed more for working hard and making good choices. The money for healthcare will be coming out of everyone's pockets and the people will healthcare in their package end up losing a lot. Now we pay more taxes and get nothing extra.
He seems to be an idealist who has no realistic principles. He seems too naive to be the President and just so everyone knows he is also for the war now.
Our economy is in the same place as the rest of the world if not better. Throughout history there are times of growth and then a decline. Our gas prices are better then Europe, and the housing crisis has nothing to do with the government but more so to do with some over indulgent Americans who took a high risk mortgage that they could not afford. Not all cases but most.
listening to McCain answer questions is just plain painful.
I reckon it would be harder to do if you weren't the #1 media darling. It just occured to me as I was reading this thread... Maybe McCain does a worse job because he's actually thinking about his answers.. perhaps when either candidate does a bogus job of answering a question, it might simply mean it was a question that their writers didn't prepare for.
I just wish the media would back off Obama so we could get a better sense of who he really is, whatever that may be. Right now, he's a tv star first and a thinker second because of the damn media. And that's not fair. To either side.
